I am not an economist, but colors have fascinated me since childhood. I still remember seeing a rainbow over the mountains, which taught me my first lesson in color theory even before I went to school. That is why I feel qualified to comment on this graph shared by the IMF.
The graph is designed by a graphic designer at the IMF who seems to be green-blind. Sadly, the green flag is missing, which is truly tragic. According to the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook, the graphic shows the top countries by real GDP growth in 2025.
It claims that South Sudan will have the fastest growth at 24.3 percent. Guyana is shown in third place with projected growth of 9.3 percent, thanks to its oil exports. All of this looks very impressive, at least in theory.
However, I am deeply confused and slightly offended. Why is the phenomenal growth of Pakistan not shown in this graph? Was it forgotten, ignored, or simply lost somewhere between the colors?
I would like to register a protest and would appreciate advice on how to do so properly—preferably in green.
