Albanian Weightlifters Break Balkan Records at 2025 Durres Weightlifting Championship

Albanian athletes shined at the 2025 Balkan Weightlifting Championships held in Durrës, Albania. The event brought together the best lifters from across the Balkans, and Albania showed its strength on home soil.

Briken Calja, competing in the 79 kg category, was a star of the championship. He won three gold medals and set new Balkan records in the snatch, clean & jerk, and total lifts. His performance was a proud moment for Albania and inspired fans across the country.

Another Albanian lifter, Ertjan Kofsha, competed in the 94 kg category and also made history. He won three gold medals and set three Balkan youth records, lifting 165 kg in snatch, 193 kg in clean & jerk, and 358 kg in total.

Other Albanian athletes also performed strongly, earning medals and showing that Albania is becoming a major power in Balkan weightlifting.

The championship took place from December 1–4, 2025, at the Grand Blue Fafa Resort in Durrës. Hosting the event in Albania was a great opportunity to showcase local talent and bring attention to Albanian sports.

With these record-breaking performances, Albanian weightlifters proved they can compete at the highest level in the Balkans. Fans are already excited to see what they will achieve next!
