EU, Austria Step Up Backing for Marine and Coastal Protection in Albania

The European Union and Austria have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening marine and coastal protection policies in Albania, highlighting environmental governance as a key pillar of sustainable development and EU integration.

In recent engagements, European and Austrian officials underlined the need for clear regulatory frameworks, stronger enforcement mechanisms, and long-term conservation strategies to protect Albania’s Adriatic and Ionian coastlines. They stressed that effective marine policy is essential to preserving biodiversity, managing tourism growth, and safeguarding fisheries.
