Maryam Nawaz Slams KP Government, Says Province ‘Left Behind’ in Development Push

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday criticised the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the province had failed to prioritise development and technology access for its youth.
Speaking at a laptop distribution ceremony at the University of Gujrat, Maryam highlighted Punjab’s initiatives including Honhaar scholarships, laptop schemes, green buses and technical training programmes. She contrasted these with what she described as a lack of similar progress in KP.
“The people there have not been introduced to modern development,” she said, referring to the need for access to gadgets, laptops and digital tools to meet global standards.
Indirectly referencing PTI’s extended tenure in KP, the chief minister questioned what she termed the province’s limited development outreach. She also remarked that blocking roads within KP harmed local economic activity rather than affecting Punjab.
During her address, Maryam recalled the imprisonment of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the illness of her late mother, Kulsoom Nawaz, stating that political differences should not turn into personal hostility. She added that despite political rivalries, no ill will was wished upon PTI founder Imran Khan regarding his health.
