ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expanded Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, with state media reporting that the Pakistan Air Force carried out air strikes targeting Taliban military installations in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktika provinces amid escalating cross-border tensions.
According to PTV News on Friday, the strikes targeted multiple Taliban facilities, including brigade and corps level installations, as part of what officials described as a response to recent attacks originating from Afghan territory. The report stated that several strategic sites were hit, though independent verification of operational details and casualty figures remains limited.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, speaking during a media briefing in Islamabad, said Pakistan’s response was aimed at safeguarding national security and territorial integrity. He described the operation as a defensive measure following what authorities called unprovoked aggression along the border.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid acknowledged air strike incidents in social media posts, condemning the action and calling it a violation of Afghan sovereignty. No independently verified casualty numbers were immediately available from international sources.
