A Sacrifice Beyond the Call of Duty
The incident occurred on Sunday near Air University, opposite Bahria University, within the jurisdiction of Margalla Police Station in Islamabad.
According to police, Group Captain Tariq was travelling to Rawalpindi on an official assignment when he noticed a man allegedly forcing a woman toward a motorcycle against her will.
Witnessing the situation, the officer immediately made a U-turn and stopped to intervene.
As the woman moved toward his vehicle seeking protection, the suspect reportedly confronted the officer before opening fire. Group Captain Tariq sustained critical injuries and later embraced martyrdom.

He said Group Captain Tariq's actions demonstrated that members of the PAF remain committed not only to defending the country's borders but also to safeguarding the lives, dignity, and honour of fellow citizens whenever duty calls.
The Air Chief described the fallen officer as an example of courage, professionalism, and selfless service whose legacy would continue to inspire future generations of airmen.
