Pakistan, China Urge Afghanistan to Take ‘Visible and Verifiable’ Action Against Terror Groups.

Pakistan and China have jointly called on Afghanistan to take “visible and verifiable” steps to dismantle terrorist organisations operating from its territory, warning that such groups pose serious threats to regional and global security.

The call was made in a joint communique issued after the 7th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue held in Beijing, where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met his Chinese counterpart.

Both sides stressed that Afghan soil must not be used for militancy against any country, and agreed to maintain close coordination on the Afghanistan security situation, while encouraging Kabul to adopt inclusive governance, moderate policies, and good-neighbourly relations.

China Praises Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Efforts

China commended Pakistan’s counter-terrorism measures and acknowledged the sacrifices made by Islamabad in combating terrorism, particularly in ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions.

The two countries reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and pledged to deepen cooperation on security and intelligence, ensuring the smooth progress of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Agreement on CPEC 2.0 and Regional Stability

Pakistan and China also agreed to develop an upgraded version of CPEC (CPEC 2.0), focusing on industry, agriculture, mining, trade, and infrastructure, including Gwadar Port and the Karakoram Highway.

Both nations reiterated their commitment to regional peace, multilateralism, and the UN Charter, opposing unilateral actions and calling for disputes to be resolved through dialogue.

Shared Positions on Global Issues

The communique reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the one-China policy, while China reiterated its support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and economic stability. Both sides also backed a two-state solution for Palestine, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
