Pakistan, Jordan Reaffirm Support for Palestine as Dar Holds Key Talks on West Bank Crisis

AMMAN: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held high-level talks with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday, reaffirming Pakistan and Jordan's support for the Palestinian cause amid growing concerns over the deteriorating situation in the occupied West Bank.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a ministerial conference in Amman convened to formulate a unified position on developments in occupied Jerusalem, according to Pakistan's Foreign Office.
During the discussions, both leaders reviewed the latest regional developments, with particular focus on the worsening humanitarian and security situation in the occupied West Bank. Dar commended Jordan's longstanding role in safeguarding the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and praised its continued support for the Palestinian people.
The two foreign ministers welcomed the growing momentum in Pakistan-Jordan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across political, defence, economic, educational, cultural, and people-to-people sectors.
They also exchanged views on wider regional developments, including recent tensions involving the United States and Iran, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential for reducing tensions and preserving regional stability. Both sides pledged continued coordination at bilateral, United Nations, and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) forums.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dar also met Somalia's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, where both sides discussed strengthening cooperation in politics, trade, defence, education, and capacity building while reaffirming close collaboration at multilateral forums.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar's participation in the Amman ministerial meeting reflects Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and its longstanding support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
Pakistan has consistently condemned attempts to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem's holy sites and continues to support international efforts aimed at protecting the status quo at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound.
