Pakistan: KP Police Repel Militant Ambush in Bannu’s Domel Area, Two Killed

A militant attack on a police patrol vehicle in Domel area of Bannu district was successfully foiled on Monday morning, resulting in the killing of two militants, police officials confirmed.
According to police, the vehicle was on routine patrol when assailants lying in ambush opened indiscriminate fire on the police party. Personnel responded immediately, leading to a heavy exchange of fire that lasted nearly 20 minutes.
Additional contingents, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), Quick Response Force (QRF), and Rapid Response Force (RRF), were swiftly dispatched from Police Lines Bannu to reinforce the area.
During a subsequent search operation, police recovered the bodies of two militants, along with weapons and ammunition, which were taken into custody for further investigation.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi confirmed the incident and commended the Domel police for their timely and effective response, stating that the quick action prevented potential casualties.
Police officials reiterated that operations against anti-state elements will continue without interruption to ensure lasting peace and security in the district.
The incident comes a day after a peace committee member was shot dead in a targeted attack near an Afghan refugee camp in Bannu, underscoring the district’s fragile security situation. In recent months, Bannu has witnessed repeated attacks on civilians, police, and jirga members amid a broader surge in militant violence.
