Pakistan, Kuwait Reaffirm Strategic Partnership as Dar, Kuwaiti FM Discuss Middle East Situation | ChatZyr

Pakistan and Kuwait on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, with both sides also discussing the evolving security situation in the Middle East amid heightened regional tensions.

According to Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO), the two leaders held a "warm and productive" meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before co-chairing delegation-level talks covering a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, labour, agriculture, information technology, health, mining and minerals, defence, and the broader economic partnership.

Focus on regional developments

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on developments across the Middle East and Palestine, reaffirming their commitment to close diplomatic coordination on regional and international issues.

The Foreign Office said both sides recognised the importance of dialogue, cooperation and multilateral engagement in supporting peace and stability during a period of heightened regional uncertainty.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister also appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and diplomatic engagement.

Expanding bilateral cooperation

During delegation-level talks, Pakistan and Kuwait agreed to further institutionalise bilateral cooperation through stronger institutional linkages and regular high-level exchanges.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing coordination at multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest.

Dar reiterated Pakistan's commitment to its longstanding brotherly relationship with Kuwait and expressed Islamabad's desire to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation across key economic and strategic sectors.

Strategic partnership continues to grow

Kuwait remains one of Pakistan's longstanding partners in the Gulf region, with strong cooperation in trade, energy and labour. A large Pakistani community living and working in Kuwait continues to play an important role in strengthening economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Office said Sheikh Jarrah thanked the Government and people of Pakistan for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation.

He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan's support during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Pakistani healthcare professionals assisted Kuwait in strengthening its medical response.

Official visit concludes

The Kuwaiti foreign minister departed Islamabad following the successful conclusion of his official visit. He was seen off at Islamabad International Airport by Additional Secretary (Middle East) Zahid Hussain.

Sheikh Jarrah arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. According to the Foreign Office, the visit reflected the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, built on shared history, mutual trust and decades of close cooperation.
