Pakistan, Seven Muslim Nations Condemn Israeli Actions in Gaza, Call for Immediate Ceasefire | ChatZyr

Pakistan and seven other Muslim-majority countries have jointly condemned what they described as Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire, greater protection for civilians and renewed international efforts to advance a two-state solution, according to a joint statement issued by their foreign ministries.

The Foreign Office (FO) said the statement was jointly issued by the foreign ministries of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The ministers said the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza constituted a breach of international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions, while warning that the ongoing conflict continued to worsen conditions for civilians.

Joint statement condemns attacks

The eight countries strongly condemned what they described as continued Israeli attacks on healthcare facilities, medical infrastructure and civilian sites, as well as the ongoing loss of civilian lives.

The ministers said the continued violence risked undermining diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict, including initiatives intended to advance a lasting political settlement.

They stressed that the protection of civilians, medical facilities, humanitarian workers and health personnel is a legal obligation under international humanitarian law and called for the immediate and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza.

Concerns over developments in the West Bank

The joint statement also linked the humanitarian situation in Gaza with developments in the occupied West Bank, expressing concern over settler violence, settlement expansion and unilateral measures affecting the status of Occupied East Jerusalem.

The ministers said these developments threatened the prospects of a negotiated peace and undermined efforts to achieve a two-state solution.

They rejected attempts to annex occupied Palestinian territory or forcibly displace Palestinians, reaffirming support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Call for international action

The eight countries urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to ensure compliance with international law and hold those responsible for serious violations accountable.

They said stronger international engagement was necessary to protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian assistance and help achieve a permanent ceasefire.

Dar reiterates Pakistan's position

The joint statement followed a ministerial conference in Amman, Jordan, where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan's position that Israel has no sovereignty over East Jerusalem and condemned incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers.

On the sidelines of the conference, Dar also held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Egypt, Algeria and Jordan, where the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories came under discussion.
