PM Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir Visit Saudi Arabia for Strategic Talks with Crown Prince MBS

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir are undertaking an official visit to Saudi Arabia from August 6 to 8 for high-level discussions with the Kingdom's leadership, as Pakistan seeks to strengthen strategic cooperation amid evolving regional developments.
According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who recently concluded an official visit to Jordan, will also join the engagements in Saudi Arabia.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The talks will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation, strengthening economic and strategic partnerships, and exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the visit reflects the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, built on decades of mutual trust, cooperation, and brotherhood. He added that the meetings are expected to deepen strategic cooperation, enhance coordination on regional and global issues, and reinforce collaboration in multilateral forums.
The visit comes as the Gulf region faces heightened security challenges. Pakistan has recently supported Saudi-led initiatives aimed at protecting maritime security and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of international shipping through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz last visited Saudi Arabia in April, where he held talks with the Kingdom's leadership on expanding economic cooperation, investment, and bilateral relations. Officials expect the latest visit to build on that momentum and further strengthen ties between the two countries.
