QUETTA: Pakistan's security forces killed four suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung district, Balochistan, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
According to the ministry, security personnel launched the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of suspected militants in the area. Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operation, while several individuals suspected of facilitating militant activities were also taken into custody for further investigation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for what the ministry described as a successful operation, commending their professionalism and continued efforts against militancy in Balochistan.
Authorities said search and clearance operations remain underway, with security personnel maintaining heightened surveillance to locate any remaining suspects and secure the area.
The latest operation follows another security action in Khad Kocha a day earlier, during which authorities said six suspected militants were killed and several individuals, including alleged facilitators and two female suicide bombers, were arrested. Security officials also reported the destruction of multiple suspected militant hideouts.
The Balochistan Home Department had imposed an indefinite curfew in the area following recent attacks, including the killing of passengers aboard a Karachi-bound bus and an explosion that damaged a bridge on the National Highway.
Balochistan has experienced a rise in militant violence in recent months, prompting intensified security operations across the province. Earlier this month, authorities launched Operation Shaban after an attack on a police post in Ziarat that killed 27 police personnel.
Government officials have repeatedly pledged to strengthen counterterrorism efforts as security forces continue operations aimed at improving stability and preventing further attacks across the province.
