A seminary teacher accused of sexually abusing two students was arrested following a police operation in Alipur Chatha, Gujrat district, after allegedly attempting to evade arrest, police said on Friday.
According to a Gujranwala Police spokesperson, the suspect, identified only as 'A' for legal reasons, was wanted in connection with a case involving the alleged sexual abuse of two of his students. Police said he attempted to flee during a raid but was later taken into custody in an injured condition. Authorities did not disclose how the injuries were sustained.
Gujranwala City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Ghias Gul has sought a detailed report on the operation from the SP Saddar Division, while the investigation into the allegations continues.
In a separate incident in Kamoke, police arrested another suspect, identified only as 'S', who is accused of attempting to sexually assault a five-year-old girl. According to Saddar Kamoke Police, the suspect was injured after allegedly trying to escape from a police checkpoint before being taken into custody.
Meanwhile, in Gakhar Mandi, police said a robbery suspect wanted in approximately 40 criminal cases was killed during a police operation after allegedly being shot by his own accomplices while attempting to flee. Investigators said the suspect had previously injured a citizen during a robbery on July 6 and was wanted by police in both Gujranwala and Sialkot. A case has been registered against the deceased suspect and unidentified accomplices.

The arrests come amid continued efforts by Punjab Police to crack down on suspects accused of serious crimes, including child sexual abuse and violent offences. The investigations remain ongoing, and authorities have not released further details.
